Yes Nurse! No Nurse!
A deliciously quirky, candy-colored, retro-Hollywood style comedy — filled with Busby Berkely-esque musical numbers — revolves around the adventures of Nurse Klivia, the wacky residents of her reviled rest home and a couple of queers!
Nasty landlord and next-door neighbor Mr. Boordevol is long exasperated by the disruptive hijinks going on inside Klivia’s Rest Home and desperately wants them evicted. The home acquires a new resident, Gerrit, a blond hottie and compulsive burglar who’s trying to reform, while a new neighbor joins the block, a flamingly gay hairdresser named Wouter who seems to have some connection to Boordevol’s past.
When Boordevol’s house is burgled, suspicion at once falls on Gerrit, providing cantankerous Boordevol with the perfect excuse to have the rest home closed down for good. Things look even more dire when Gerrit is proved innocent and Nurse Klivia herself becomes the prime suspect. But a handful of miracles, pharmaceuticals and a bunch of revelations — including very, very gay ones — ensure a happy ending for all involved. Based on a hugely popular 1960s Dutch TV series starring a Lucille Ball-esque nurse, director Pieter Kramer’s feature is guaranteed to cure the blues and fill you with joy, so bring your dancing shoes! |
