Harry and Max

Two brothers try to rekindle their once-close relationship with a weekend trip in the California mountains, only to find their emotional baggage—and societal expectations—almost overwhelming. Harry is a 23-year-old member of a world-famous boy band facing an inevitable decline in his popularity. On the other end of the career spectrum, Max, his cute 16-year-old brother, just recorded his first successful pop album and is beginning to appear in teen magazines.

As the camping trip unfolds, we learn of their dysfunctional family past as well as the incestuous relationship they maintained with each other. Writer and director Christopher Munch deftly handles this controversial subject matter, while the two lead actors, Bryce Johnson (Harry) and Cole Williams (Max) offer compelling and natural performances. Superb supporting roles by Michelle Phillips (The Mammas and the Papas) and Rain Phoenix (Even Cowgirls Get the Blues) complete the cast of this film that definitely will be talked about at this year’s festival.
