The Experiment: Gay and Straight
This FOX News Chicago series combines reality show and news magazine as ten strangers, five gay and five straight, agree to leave their jobs, families, and lives for one week to live together in a Chicago area house with the hopes of fostering a better understanding between homosexuals and heterosexuals. During their week of seclusion, these ten people from all age groups, ethnicities, and walks of life participated in activities that included films and discussions on topics ranging from gay marriage, to HIV-phobia, to parenting gay/lesbian children.Through a series of moving vignettes and Real World style confessionals, The Experiment shows us the pain and celebration in each one of the housemates’ lives, the personal transformation within each, and that sometimes people are capable of growing and learning outside of what they know from day-to-day. But it also begs the question—is one week long enough?
