Welcome to the Film Festival!

The Reel Pride Michigan GLBT Film Festival has never been needed more or been more relevant than it is now, at the beginning of 2005.

Following closely on the heels of the shameful passage of Proposal 2 last November, Reel Pride provides an excellent opportunity for celebrating the gifts, joys, resilience and tenacity of our gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) selves. It also is an occasion to present the stories of our lives to the broader community and to demonstrate that our vibrant GLBT culture is a major means by which we will be seen and heard in society.

It is only through our visibility and voice that our presence will be known. When our voices are heard and our visibility is honest and truthful we win hearts and minds. The cultural victories that we have won have outpaced and are, in many ways, more important than any single political setback or ballot defeat.

Reel Pride Michigan is the venue and the vehicle by which we can showcase much of the cultural excellence and relevance of the GLBT community, and by which we will continue to make progress and set the pace for the rest of our accomplishments to match.

Again, as in the past, we offer outrageous entertainment, insightful and dramatic documentaries, cutting-edge shorts, love stories, laughter and tears at Reel Pride Michigan. We offer a tasty variety of thought provoking, controversial, hard-hitting and frivolous amusements—something for everyone—throughout the eight day, forty-five-film schedule.

Triangle Foundation is pleased to produce this annual event and is proud that you will be joining us for the shows. Your support of Reel Pride Michigan helps to enable us to wage a stronger more effective fight for GLBT equality, dignity, safety and solace for our families, our loved ones and ourselves.

See you at the movies!
